Dubbed "Hard Luck Houtteman" because of a series of bad breaks which dotted his six years with Detroit, Art began to hit the comeback trail with the Indians after the trade last summer. He won 7 and lost 7 for the Tribe. A good hitter and considered by experts to have as much "stuff" as any pitcher in the league. Won 19 for Tigers in 1950.

Slated to be the Tigers' No. 1 catcher this year, Frank was called into the Armed Forces. Called "Pig" by his teammates, he was signed by the Tigers in August of 1948 for a bonus of $75,000. At Flint in '49, Frank hit .261 and in 5 games with the Tigers in 1950, he hit .400. He started 1951 at Toledo, batting .232 in 64 games when the Tigers recalled him. A great High School player at Bessemer, he'll tell you that his father was his best coach.

After a season in the Minors, Joe will be a welcome addition to the Dodger team this year. Experts believe he can regain the "hypnotic spell" he cast over National League hitters when he was voted Rookie-of-the-Year in 1952. That year he posted a 15 and 4 record and was the main reason for the Dodgers' Pennant success. Joe won the 1st game in the 1952 World Series.
