Raymond W. Collins, the left-handed pitcher of the Boston American League team, was born at Burlington, Vt., in 1887. He first attracted attention as a pitcher on the University of Vermont team, and was signed by the Boston Club in the summer of 1909 after several major league clubs had offered him contracts. Collins made good at once, and has been a valued member of the Red Sox ever since.
The shortest man on the Orioles roster, Curt has played on three All-Star squads in the minors. In 1967, he topped the International League with 70 RBIs playing for the Red Wings.
A top MLB prospect, Junior hopped off the team's bus to sign a card and take a photo with a boy waving to him. He had a HR and three RBI, 9-28-24.
