Frank Owens, catcher of the Brooklyn Federal League Club, was born at Wausau, June 21, 1886. He played independent ball at Wausau until 1908, when he joined Minneapolis, of the American Association. He played that year at Minneapolis. Was drafted by the Chicago American League Club at the close of 1908, and played the season of 1909 with Chicago. He was returned to Minneapolis at the start of 1910, and played with that team until the end of the year 1913, when he was drafted by the Washington American League Club. Instead of joining Washington, he signed with the Brooklyn Federal League Club. at the beginning of the 1914 season.
The 1916 Sporting News M101-4 baseball set consists of 200 cards, each measuring 1-5/8” by 3”.
Willie was runner up for Batting Championship last season and led the League in Triples and Stolen Bases. He was also tops in D.P.'s for outfielders. Willie was the N.L. Most Valuable Player in 1954.
