Tom returns to the Cards after 2 years in the Army, hoping 142 Weight: 205 to improve on his 7-13 rookie record of '51. Despite his losing mark, he was a regular starter and pitched in 38 games that year. In '50 at Rochester he won the International League's MVP Award with an 18-6 record and a 2.17 ERA. He also led the Sally League in '47 with 16-3 at Columbus (Ga.).
