Joe started in majors with Cleveland in 1939 and it wasn't until Sept. 1943 with Boston Red Sox, to whom he had been traded at end of 1940 season, that he made his first major league error. During that time he played 156 consecutive games and accepted 153 chances, for a League record. In 1947 he won 18 games while losing 8 and had earned run average of 2.95. Last season his record was 16-10 and his 3.56 ERA was sixth best in League.

In the opening 100 days of the 2023 season, Ronald led all players with 140 triple-digit exit velos - 26 more than second-place Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He became the first ever to record at least 20 home runs, 40 steal and 50 RBI prior to the MLB All-Star Game, then started the showcase for the third time.

Jim is one of the most highly regarded good pitchers on the Giants staff. With the Cards in 1950, he was put on the waiver list, and claimed by the Giants. A not too highly regarded pitcher up to that time, he suddenly caught fire, winning 11 and losing 4 and winding up with the lowest earned run average in the league 2.49. The following year he had a 17-9 record.
