Billy's playing career started in 1928 and ended in 1950. He was chosen on every National League All-Star team from '34 to '43. and played in 4 World Series. Billy starred for the Cubs from '31 to '41 and for the Dodgers from '41 to '46. He was playing-manager for the Pirates in '47 and Minneapolis in 1948. He also managed Richmond in 1951 before being added to the Dodger coaching staff. Billy was in the Service during World War II.

Alleged to be most expensive player ever purchased by Giants. His performance has proved his value. Has been on several All-Star teams. Generally rated No. 1 catcher in NL. His record as a long clouter and great receiver is impressive. Fourth in NL in home runs in 1947 with 35. Also had a .305 batting average.

Considering his team went 87-61 in his 2009-10 starts, Buster's broken leg proved to be something of a Giants season-killer in '11. He's one of the game's brightest young stars.
