Class A Delmarva batters didn't stand much of a chance during their visit to Kannapolis on July 29, 2023, and the opportunities they did get had to wait until Schultz's work was done. The stingy southpaw didn't permit a walk or a run over his four innings on the bump, scattering just three hits to earn his first professional win.
Ebba is a switch hitter but he generally bats right handed. He started in pro ball as an outfielder with Albany in '42, was called into Service after 1 month and came back in '45 to catch for Hornell of the Pony League. Ebba hit .347 in '45, .315 in '46 and was on the voluntary retired list in '47 and '49. The former Colgate star hit 19 Homers and batted in 107 Runs for Atlanta in '50, before coming up to the Braves in '51.
Thomas William Leach, outfielder of the Chicago National League team, was born at French Creek, N. Y., November 4, 1877. His baseball career started in 1896, when he accepted a position with the Petersburg Virginia League Club. In 1898 he joined the Auburn New York State Club, and was sold to Louisville in the fall of that year. In 1900 he was transferred to Pittsburgh, and was traded to the Chicago Cubs in 1912.
