As a rookie in 1967, Pat came along to offer the Detroit bullpen some welcomed help. The burly righthanded reliever had won 54 games during his minor league career. In 1962, Pat was tied for the Alabama-Florida League lead in shutouts.
The Pirates brought Jerry up for the '54 season after a tremendous showing in the Minors. He started with Greenville in '50 and hit .329, driving in 75 Runs with 33 Stolen Bases. After 2 years in Service, he returned to Norfolk where he led the League in Batting (.330), R.B.I.'s (133) as well as Hits, Doubles and Triples. The Pirates hope Jerry can do the same for them.
