"Country" is the Cardinal's Captain and has been a Cardinal longer than any other player on the team. He broke in with the Cards in '38 after leading the American Association in batting with .382 in 1937. In his 11 full seasons in the majors, he's hit over .300 seven times, and led the League in Doubles in 1939 with 52. A World War II veteran, Enos was chosen on the Major League All-Star Team in 1942 and 1946.

The American Association's All-Star Shortstop, Alex, who was the property of the Cincinnati Redlegs, came to the Cardinals in a $100,000 deal. Last year was his best year at the plate since he broke in with Muskegon in '49, when he hit .327. 1950-51 were spent by Alex at Memphis. In '51, he was traded to Tulsa, where he also played in 1952.

Billy is one of the bright hopes of the Dodger staff. While he hasn't quite lived up to his early promise, he still had a good season in 1954. He was in 28 games for Brooklyn, and he had a record of 13-5. He pitched 148 innings and his earned run average was 4.14. He began in organized ball in 1949 with the Dodgers' Nashua farm team. He also pitched for Fort Worth that year, coming to Brooklyn in 1950.
