Frank S. (Ping) Bodie, outfielder of the Chicago American League team, was born in San Francisco, Cal., October 8, 1887. His first professional engagement was in 1902 with the San Francisco Club in the California State League. He played with that team until 1905, when he joined the San Mateo Club. During 1907 and 1908 he played third base at Vallejo, but left in 1909 to rejoin the San Francisco team. Bodie signed with the White Sox in 1910.
Hoot started in organized ball in 1941 and played with three clubs. Next season with Beaumont, he hit .322 and was called up by Tigers. Army also called him and he spent 3 years in service. He joined Tigers in 1946 and played 81 games, hitting 266. Following year he hit 296 for 126 games and batted in 67 runs. Last season he had a great year, hitting .314 and driving, in 103 runs.
16 victories were contributed to the New York Yankee Championship drive by the 6' right-handed twirler in 1950.
