A 23-year-old fireball, Sammy hurled a no-hitter in the minors. The righthanded pitcher struck out 192 men in 192 innings in '63. Mel, a twenty-two-year-old lefthanded hitter, exploded for 25 home runs 26 doubles and 78 RBIs with San Diego in the P.C.L. in 1963.



Jose belted Grand Slam in his 1st World Series game: 10-15-88. His twin brother, Ozzie, plays in minors.



Pedro was a teenager when the Giants inked him out of Dominican in 1994. Six years later he reached the big time, but only as a helping hand until 2004, when his power was too valuable to waste on the bench. He ripped 22 home runs that season as manager Felipe Alou spotted him around at 5 positions. In 2005, he split time at 3rd and left.
