Drafted from the Chicago Cubs, Bill will see plenty of action with the Expos both as a starter and reliever. He earned his shot in the majors after winning five of seven games at Tacoma. As a Cub rookie, he was a fine strikeout pitcher fanning 52 batters in 63 innings.



Bob got into 31 games for the 1954 edition of the Milwaukee Braves, 14 of these appearances starting roles. He won 2 and lost 7. Bob worked 110 innings, giving up 117 hits. He walked 65 men and struck out 57 and his earned run average was 4.01 He pitched one shut-out. Bob began in organized baseball in 1947 with Madisonville of the Kitty League, where he got into 40 games, the most in the League. He won 19 and lost 10. First came to the majors in 1953, where he had a 13-8 season for the Braves.



Smoky's career began in the minors in 1944. The hard-hitting backstop won two successive batting crowns before joining the Cubs. Smoky hit .387 in 1947 and .386 in 1948!
