After winning 55 games in less than 3 seasons in the Minors, Howie made the Big Leagues with the Cards in 1941. He went into the Service in July of 1943, but before he did, he pitched 3 straight shutouts. In 1946, Howie had a 21-10 mark and topped the N.L. with a 2.10 E.R.A. He won 20 in '49, went to the Pirates in '51 and Cubs in '53.
Class A Delmarva batters didn't stand much of a chance during their visit to Kannapolis on July 29, 2023, and the opportunities they did get had to wait until Schultz's work was done. The stingy southpaw didn't permit a walk or a run over his four innings on the bump, scattering just three hits to earn his first professional win.
Not as many balls found outfield grass or went over walls for Vladimir in 2022 as they did in his AL Triple Crown-threatening 2021 season, but he still hit them hard. The young slugger's exit velocity remained in the top 5%. On June 15, he ripped rockets of 115.7, 115.4 and 114.8 mph - the only time three velos that high have been recorded in one game.
