Standing 6'2" and weighing 200 pounds, the right-handed Cincinnati Reds' moundsman recorded 10 wins in 1950.



Frank Owens, catcher of the Brooklyn Federal League Club, was born at Wausau, June 21, 1886. He played independent ball at Wausau until 1908, when he joined Minneapolis, of the American Association. He played that year at Minneapolis. Was drafted by the Chicago American League Club at the close of 1908, and played the season of 1909 with Chicago. He was returned to Minneapolis at the start of 1910, and played with that team until the end of the year 1913, when he was drafted by the Washington American League Club. Instead of joining Washington, he signed with the Brooklyn Federal League Club. at the beginning of the 1914 season.



Began 1951 season with the Cards. Traded to the Pirates. Got into a total of 65 games - the most for a NL pitcher in the '51 campaign. Won 3, lost 5. Pitched 101 innings. His fireman role was featured by a nice 2.85 earned run average. Entered majors with Cardinals in 1944.
