"Rip" topped his excellent '53 performance when he raised his Batting Average and Homer output last season. "Rip" waited six years before getting his big chance with the Cards in '53. At Fresno he hit .322 with 125 R.B.I.'s in '48, and .300 at Winston-Salem in '49. The next year at Columbus, "Rip" has a .323 mark. With Rochester in '52, he hit .296 and was promoted to the Cardinals.



Hal had the 4th best Batting Average on the Cardinals in '52, enjoying his best season since coming to the majors in '48. He broke into pro ball in '41 and was in Service in '43, '44 and '45. Hal chalked up batting marks of .335 for Winston Salem in '46 and .321 and .310 for Rochester in '48 and '50. He spent parts of the 1948-49-50 seasons with the Cards. After just 1 workout the Cards signed him for their farm system



Xander has legged out at least 30 doubles in each of the past eight 162-game seasons. A newcomer to the Padres in 2023, he tied for third on the team in that category while leading San Diego in hits.
