Played his first professional ball with Brockton in the New England League in 1928, hitting .340; moved to Tulsa in the Western League the next season and slugged .337; in 1930 went to Wichita Falls in the Texas League where he swatted .356. He was grabbed by the Browns. Burns was born in Cambridge, Mass., in 1907. Is 6 feet tall and weighs 170 pounds; bats and throws left-handed.
