Although Jim saw only part-time duty with the Athletics last year, he's staging a big battle to take over the 1st string catching job this season. Starting with Grand Forks in '49 he moved up to Binghamton in '52, where he hit .303 and led the League in Putouts. The following season he hit .264 for Syracuse and while at Kansas City in '53 was transferred to the Athletics.
Shane struck out 20 of the 45 batters he faced in an abbreviated 2024 season, notching wins against the Athletics and Mariners. His career 5.1 SO/BB ratio is the highest for a Cleveland hurler with 800+ IP.
