Connie Mack has visions of another Eddie Collins in Wayne Ambler, now playing his second full major year with the Philadelphia Athletics. Wayne has been working overtime experimenting with various stances and swings in an effort to improve his batting. Wayne has been alternating his time between shortstop and second base and is rated amongst the best at either position for double plays, possessing a good throwing arm. Ambler collected 96 hits last year, driving in 35 runs, scoring 41 runs himself to finish the 1938 season with a batting average of .244.
