If his pitching arm ever goes back on him, Monte Weaver won't need to worry, for he has served as a college professor in the University of Virginia. He began his professional career with Durham in the Piedmont League in 1928, and went up to the Baltimore Club 2 years later. He was signed by Washington in 1932 and in his first season in the big league won 22 games and was beaten only 10 times. Weaver is 26 years old, 6 ft. tall and weighs 170 pounds. Bats left-handed and throws right-handed.



According to Scot Reader’s book ‘Inside T206,’ its estimated that approximately 3.2 million 1909 T206 cards exist today.



The crafty lefty is one of baseball's best pitchers. He was in 27 games for the Dodgers in 1952, and he won 11 while losing 2 for a percentage of .846, best in the League. Preach walked 39 and struck out 83. His earned run average was a nice 3.11. He's been in baseball since 1938 with the Cardinals. After five seasons in the minors, he returned to big time with Pittsburgh.
