Gary wasn't expected to see any action with Philadelphia last year, but his pea-shooting fastball earned him a spot on the roster. Called up early in the 1965 campaign, Gary was a Rookie sensation. He was called upon second only to veteran bullpen ace Jack Baldschun. With a year of experience under his belt, Gary looks like he is in the majors to stay. Mgr. Mauch has only the highest of praise for his young righthander.
Played in 101 games in 1949, hitting .257. Started in organized baseball in 1938 with Hartford. Joined the Braves late in 1939. Stayed with them until 1943. After discharge from service, came back to Braves for the 1946 season. Played one game, then was shunted to Indianapolis. There Sibby hit .343 at short. Hit .281 for Braves in 1947.
Originally an outfielder, Mike was converted into a third baseman in 1967 and handled the hot corner for the pennant winning Cardinals. He has great reflexes and possesses one of baseball's strongest arms. A fine hitter, Mike drove in 79 runs in 1968.
