baseball's singing out- "Buddy" Hassett, baseball's singing outfielder-first-baseman, was a vastly improved ball player last year. He was far from bad in 1938 with Brooklyn, but with the Boston Bees, to whom he was traded at the end of the '38 season, he hit .309, collected 182 hits and drove in 60 runs. Buddy, a graduate of Manhattan College, where he starred at baseball and football, has a splendid singing voice and could probably make a good living at it if he chose. Baseball is his best love, however. In four seasons of major league ball, Buddy has a batting average of .305.
