"Betts staged a real come back to the big league in 1932 after being sold by the Phillies to the minors 6 years before. He pitched 5 years for the Phillies before being released. The Braves bought Betts from the St. Paul Club in the American Association, where he starred in the box for 5 years. In his last year with St. Paul, which was 1931, he won 22 and lost 13 games. Last year, pitching for Boston, Betts finished 4th, winning 11 games and was beaten a like number of times. He is a right-handed pitcher, 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He was born in Millsboro, Del., in 1898, and attended the university of Delaware before entering professional baseball."
