Joseph Boehling, pitcher of the Washington American League team, is twenty- three years old. It was in 1910, while he was playing with the Battleaxes of Richmond, Va., that Clark Griffith discovered him and took him on the spring training trip of 1912. Boehling was loaned to Chattanooga early in the season of 1912, but was sent back after a month with that team. He proved himself one of the pitching sensations of that season.



A Chicago boy who earned his first trial in minor league ball because of his showing with the Logan Squares, one of the best semi-pro teams in the country. This was in 1920. After 2 years with Peoria, he was bought by Washington. After another year of minor league seasoning he won a place with the Senators and has been a regular ever since. Last year played 149 games at third base for the Senators, ranked with the beat in fielding his position, batted .258. Is 32 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs160 lbs. Bats and throws right handed.



The fireballing southpaw was purchased by the Pittsburgh Pirates during the 1966 winter baseball meetings. Juan established himself as a strikeout pitcher in 1956 as he led the Sally League with 318. That year, he was an All-Star pitcher and Most Valuable Player in the circuit.
