The speedy outfielder blossomed into a full fledged star last season. Matty's .342 batting average earned him the title of National League Batting Champion. His tremendous agility easily enables him to cover the spacious centerfield area in Pittsburgh. Matty also uses his great speed on the base paths.



"Red" Schoendienst led the National League in 1950 in doubles (46). Went to bat most times (642). Sacrificed most times (16). Played in all Cardinal games. Broke own NL fielding records for consecutive games (44) and total chances without error (285). New record: 320 chances in 57 games. Hit .276 in 1950. Joined Cards, 1945. Has played third and short and in the outfield.



Teams up with Roy Campanella to make a terrific backstop combination for the Dodgers. The handicap of a bad shoulder, for the past 2 seasons, has brought down Bruce's batting average to .209 in 64 games in 1949 and .183 for 50 games in 1950. Joined the Dodgers in 1947. Batted .295. Led National League catchers in putouts and double plays. Made the All-Star team.
