William Richard Cox nicknamed "Billy" is a popular ball player of Irish ancestry. He is a Pennsylvanian by birth, and entered organized baseball at Harrisburg. Like many players, Billy enjoys hunting and fishing during his leisure time. He tied the major league record on May 21, 1952 by making three appearances at bat in one inning. Led N.L. 3rd basemen in fielding 1950 and '52.



Led the National League batters for the fifth time in 1951. His average was 355. Tied for lead in scoring most runs (124), hit for most total bases (355), tied for most triples (12). Extended own National League record by scoring 100 or more runs for 8th straight year.



Ralph was bothered by a sore arm for most of 1952; appeared in only 16 games. Ralph has been in Brooklyn since 1944. His big season was in 1947 when he won 21 games and lost 12. He began in baseball in 1943 with the Dodgers Olean farm team. Appeared in 21 games for the Dodgers in 1944, then finished the season with Montreal. Began 1945 with St. Paul, then joined the Dodgers.
