The veteran outfielder was traded to the Orioles last winter by the Washington Senators. Long on power, Woody clouted 35 HRS and 125 RBIs for Denver in the A. A. in 1956.
When the Phillies come to town, you will always see a peppery man named Hans Lobert on the third base coaching lines. Lobert is one of the ablest coaches in the National League and a colorful figure on the base lines. He was given the nickname Hans for trying to emulate Honus Wagner. He was an exceptionally fast man in his playing days, with third base his post. He played briefly with Pittsburgh and Chicago, moved to Cincinnati from 1906 through 1910, and to Philadelphia from 1911 through 1914. He wound up his playing days with the New York Giants.
