"Jo-Jo" Moore, one of the most consistent hitters in the National League, and one of the finest outfielders, started his baseball career in 1928, with the Coleman Club. From there he went to San Antonio, and in 1930 he was purchased by the New York Giants who optioned. him to Newark, and Jersey City. He was recalled by the Giants in 1932, playing for them in 86 games, and getting a batting average of .305. In 1935 and 1936 "Jo-Jo" managed to collect over 200 hits, each season. Moore was one of the batting stars of the 1937 World Series when he collected 9 hits in 5 games, for a batting average of 391. For 9 years of major- league ball playing he has hit 1197 times in 938 games, for a batting average of .307.
Tom showed marked improvement in each of his last 4 seasons as he helped pitch Montreal to 3 straight International League Pennants. He won 9 games in '50, 12 in '51, 14 in '52. Last year he had the best Won-Lost Percentage in the International League. With Schenectady in '48 he set a Canadian-American League record by fanning 25 batters in a 15-inning game.
