Milt's aggressiveness and solid defensive play has made him a regular in the Red Sox lineup. Brought up in '52, as part of the Boston Youth Program, he covers plenty of ground and is at his best when making the tough plays. Starting in '48 with Roanoke, he was promoted to Scranton in '50 and hit .288. A good year at Birmingham in '52 won Milt a Red Sox berth.



Bill had the best Home Run, and RBI totals of his career at Mobile in '52. He signed with the Dodger organization after being discharged from the Navy in '46. In '47 at Newport News, he was switched from Shortstop to Outfield. At Mobile in '49 he hit .299, batted in 98 runs and led the League with 39 Doubles. He was with Hollywood and St. Paul before joining Mobile in '52.



Richard Hoblitzel, infielder for the Boston Americans, was born in Waverly, W. Va., October 26, 1888. His career as a ball player began in 1907, when he became a member of the Clarksburg, W. Va., team. In 1908 he was with Reading, Pa., for six weeks, and then went to Newark, N. J. From Newark he went to Wheeling, W. Va., and in 1908 he was purchased by Cincinnati, and sold to Boston Americans in August, 1914.
