The big hard-throwing righthander won 13 ball games for Grand Forks in the Northern League in 1956. Continuing on his way to the majors, Dave notched 15 triumphs at Beaumont in '57. Dave's biggest season in the minors was at Lincoln in the Western League where he racked up 16 wins agains tthe opposition.
The second sacker's batting average jumped 39 points last year as he became one of the league's most improved ballplayers. Hustle, determination and a great competitive spirit are just a few of this young man's fine qualities. A good base-runner, Dalton swiped 7 bases last year. With a long big league future ahead of him, Dalton will be a Fenway Park favorite for years.
Pres returned to baseball in 1953 from military service. He started the season with the Cubs, appearing in 33 games, then was acquired by the Pirates. He got into the Pittsburgh line-up 88 times. Pres first attracted scouts' attention while he played high school ball in Springfield, Mo. George Sisler invited him to appear at a Dodger try-out camp. Was signed to contract and played in the Brooklyn organization. Was with Dodgers in 1948. Cubs purchased him in 1949.
