A lot of the future of the New York Giants depends on how "Bill" Jurges will go at shortstop this year. Fate can play funny tricks, and it played one on Jurges and the Giants when one of "Bucky" Walters' usually accurate pitches struck Jurges on the head on June 23rd, last year, and put him out for the remainder of the season, depriving the Giants of the most valuable shortstop in the National League. Indications thus far are that Jurges will not only completely recover but will regain the brilliance that made him an outstanding shortstop and a dangerous batter.
