"One of the most consistent pitchers with the St. Louis Cardinals is James (Tex) Carleton. He in a right-hander, who last year won 17 games and lost 11, pitching for a club which finished 5th. Carleton won a place with the St. Louis club in 1932 after helping to pitch the Houston club to the championship in the Texas league the previous year. He won 20 games that year and was beaten only 7 times. Among his victories was a run of 13 straight wins. Carleton was born at Comanche, Texas, in 1906. He is a right-hander, 6 feet, 11⁄2 inches tall, and weighs around 176 pounds."
Otto Lowell Miller, catcher, was born in Hendon, Neb., June 1, 1889. He started his professional career in 1908 when he joined the Sharon O. and P. League team. The following season he was tried out by Louisville, but was sent to Duluth, where he played during the season of 1909. He signed with Brooklyn in 1910.
With Waterioo of the I.I.I. League in 1955, Johnny won the homer championship. He appeared as a pinch-hitter with the White Sox in the 1959 World Series. Johnny spends his spare time constructing things out of wood.
