One of the best catchers in the National. League, if not the top, Harry Danning may this year be seen cavorting in left field for the New York Giants. In order to make use of his great hitting power, the Giants are attemping to convert Danning into an outfielder and from the way he has been showing steady improvement, the trick may work. If that fails, Danning is still a great catcher. Harry hit .300 for the Giants last year, catching 140 games, and drove in 91 runs, the most he has ever sent across in eight seasons with the New Yorkers.
In spite of injured arm last year, he had a record of 10-10 for Phils. His first 9 years in majors were spent with Detroit Tigers. He was sold to Dodgers in 1942 - then sent to Montreal. Phillies obtained him in March of 1943, and that season The won 14 and lost 8. In 1934 with Tigers he had a winning streak of 16 straight games, tying AL record.
