Name that player!

This hustling, flashy fielding shortstop is bouncing back from knee surgery. Although a natural righthanded batter, Bud developed into a fine switch-hitter. In 1967, he socked the ball at a .281 pace batting lefthanded!

"Campy" is recognized as one of the great fielding catchers of all time. He was named the Most Valuable Player in the National Leaguge in '51 and has been an All-Star catcher in 1949-50-51-52. He broke in with Nashua in '46, moved up to Montreal in '47 and was brought up to the Dodgers after hitting .325 in 35 games for St. Paul. In '51, Roy topped NL receivers in Assists and Putouts. He had the 4th best Batting mark in the League in 1951, and was 3rd in Homers.

Newspapers in Minneapolis, which is the home of the Giants' top farm team, were predicting in 1953 that when Ray was called up to the parent Giants he would take over the number one catching job, and hold it for a good many years to come. This is within the realm of possibility. He was called up to the New Yorkers after the American Association season ended, and was very impressive. He's big, strong and hits a very long ball.
