Name that player!

Started in OB with Philadelphia A's in 1936, appearing in 22 games. He spent part of 1937 and 1938 with A's, and spent rest of time, up to 1946 shuttling around minors. '43, '44 and '45 were spent in service. After his discharge he joined New York Yankees and won 15 and lost 4 over two seasons. Last season, with Yanks and then White Sox, his record was 3-6.

Jim's big game in 1968 came against the Chicago White Sox and their ace reliever, Wilbur Wood. In a 10th inning pinch hitting role, Jimmie cracked a homer to give Detroit a 3-2 victory!

CAREER APPRAISAL: There are seven levels to the Orioles system. Machado had blown through six of them (skipping Triple-A) just a few weeks after his 20th birthday. His key role in the team's postseason bid suggests he's in Baltimore to stay.
