The 1909 T206 Set, and other tobacco cards, were often viewed as evil, encouraging gambling and tobacco use among children.
Started in OB with Oklahoma City in Texas League, then joining Philadelphia A's. Spent next two and a half seasons in minors - then was sold to Chicago Cubs for $35,000. Led NL in home runs and runs batted in (1943 and 1944). Also tied major league record and set NL mark with 4 homers in four successive times at bat in 1944. Traded to Phillies after 1948 season.
In the 1956 World Series, Yogi's booming bat was the Yanks chief offensive weapon. His .360 batting mark for the seven games included 9 hits and 10 runs batted in. In the crucial final game, Yogi blasted 2 homers to wrap up the World Championship for New York. He was voted Most Valuable Player in 1951, 1954 and 1955.
