Gerrit's outing of July 2, 2022, was the 250th of his career. He finished the contest with 1,790 strikeouts - more than everyone except Randy Johnson (1,877) and Clayton Kershaw (1,800) at that career juncture.



In 1939, Mickey tried out for the Giants as a pitcher. He was advised to try the outfield and finally found his spot as a catcher. He started in organized ball with Trenton in 1941 and homered his first time at bat. The next 3 years, he was in the Army and was captured by the Germans in North Africa. In 1946, Mickey came back with Jersey City and had a brief trial with the Giants. He came to the Senators in '50 from Seattle.



In high-grade, the 1909 T206 Set cards can be quite valuable – a near set sold for more than $8 million.
