Pete is one of the real veterans of the Philadelphia Athletics. He has been with the team since they drafted him in October 1940. During those years he has played at second, third and short. Pete had his best season with the Athletics in 1953, batting .286 for 115 games, his highest average since 1940. He had 130 hits and drove in 35 runs. In 1950 Pete took part in five double plays at second base, tying a major league record.

Last year was Jerry's busiest since he put on a Boston uniform. Still only 25, he has spent parts of 5 seasons with the Red Sox.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2015 was a hitter's nightmare, as it featured a trio of the most dominant turn-of-the-century twirlers. Joining Martinez on the stage were Randy Johnson and John Smoltz, although they had to take a backseat when it came to stinginess. The former Boston ace led the triumvirate with a 2.93 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP.
