Lon Warneke, one of the ace pitchers of the St. Louis Cardinals, began his major-league career with the Chicago Cubs in 1930, playing with them until 1936, when he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals for Jimmy Cullin, and Roy Parmelee. In 1933 he was the leading pitcher of the National League, winning 22 games and losing only 6, and he also led the league in the earned run department with an average of 2.37. He took part in two World Series with the Chicago Cubs, and in the 1935 Series won both of the games that he pitched. Lon Warneke has pitched 284 games, winning 131, losing 78, and striking out 818 batters for the average of .627.
The cocky little manager of the Dodgers led them to a pennant in 1952, after losing one in 1951 in the third play-off game with the Giants. Charlie has been in baseball since 1919. As a player he spent the majority of his major league career with the Cincinnati Reds, managed them in 1934 through 1937. He was a coach with the Brooklyn Dodgers for many years, then went to the Yanks as a coach. After managing Oakland in 1949 and 1950, he came back to the majors as Dodger manager in 1951.

Fitz began in baseball in 1946 with Wenatchee of the Western International League, batting .338 for 91 games. Moved to Sacramento of the Pacific Coast League for 1946 and also for 1947. Joined the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1948 and caught 102 games as a rookie, hitting .267. Spent 1950 with Indianapolis and was back with Pittsburgh in 1951.
