Had a 13-15 record for the Giants in 1950. Began in organized baseball in 1939. Tried out in majors during parts of 1941 and 1942. Spent next 3 years in service. Returned in 1946 to become a starting pitcher for the Giants. Though Dave's win-lose record was 11-14 in 1949, he led the League in low earned run averages with a nice 2.50. He gave up only 59 earned runs in pitching 212 innings.



"Billy the Bull" was the American League's Rookie of the Year in '43 when he was with the Yankees. Except for 2 years in the Infantry, Billy played for the Yanks until '51 when he was traded to the Cards. He's been in pro ball since '36. Bill was the AL's All-Star 3rd Baseman in '43 and '47. In '51, he led NL 3rd Basemen in Fielding (.976). Billy's best years at the plate were '46 and '47, when he hit .285 and .294.



Only one player is featured with a mustache in the 1909 T206 Set – John Titus.
