Milburn Shoffner started pitching for the Rochester Club, of the International League, in 1926, pitching for them for two years, and then going to Jersey City for two years, From 1929, through part of 1931 season he pitched for the Cleveland Indians. From then until 1937 he pitched for several minor-league clubs with a very im- pressive record. He was acquired by the Boston Bees toward the end of the 1937 season, and for them has won 11 games, losing 8. His 5-year major-league record shows that he has pitched 79 games, winning 18, and losing 18 for a percentage of .500.
Johnny topped the N.L. Shortstops in Fielding for the second straight year in '53. After returning from Service he broke in with Evansville in '47 and hit .331. His .296 batting mark with Milwaukee (Amer. Assn.) in '50 earned Johnny a trial with Boston. Back with Milwaukee in '51, Johnny joined the Braves in '52 and hit .283 in 117 games.
Sad Sam was in 33 games in 1950, winning 4, and losing 2. Mainly a relief pitcher. The Indians acquired him in 1948 from the Browns with whom he had been since 1944. His 1948 record was 11-10. He was in 34 games-11 for the Browns, and 23 for the Indians. In 1949 he took part in 27 contests, but was involved in only 3 decisions. Won 1 game, and lost 2. Traded to A's at press time.
