Harry Danning began his baseball career with Bridgeport, of the Eastern League, in 1931. He started the 1932 season with Bridgeport, moved on to Winston-Salem and later that year was purchased by the New York Giants, who optioned him to Buffalo. He was recalled by the Giants in 1933 and has proven to be a dangerous batter for them. During one game with the Giants he performed a superhuman feat, hitting two home runs, a triple and a double in four trips to the plate. In 1938 he caught in 120 games, getting 137 hits for a batting average of .306. His 6-year major-league record shows 301 hits and 366 games, for a major-league lifetime batting average of .284.

Though he hadn't yet made his MLB debut, Juan made St. Louis' 2021 NL Wild Card game roster. He'd hit a personal best 22 home runs for Triple-A Memphis.
