Yogi is now being rated with the all-time great catchers. He has hit more home runs in his career than any other catcher in history. Often overlooked is his uncanny ability to handle pitchers.
One of the hardest hitters in the National League. Finished third in batting in the league in 1932 with an average of .348 in 154 games and walloped 38 home runs, being tied with Mel Ott of the Giants for the lead in this respect. Chuck Klein is 27 years old, 6 feet tall and weighs 185 pounds; bats left handed, but throws right handed. He began his professional career with Evansville in the Three-I League in 1927 and was bought by Fort Wayne in 1928. He went up to the Phillies in midseason. He has finished among the first ten batters in the league every season.
Nellie is regarded by many as the best fielder in the league, leading all other second basemen in the league in 1952 in fielding percentage. He does as good a job with a bat, his 192 hits were the most in the league. He also went to bat the most times, 648. The Athletics was Nellie's first major league team, but he was traded to the Sox for the 1950 season.
