In '49, George won the American League Batting Crown with a .3429 mark, beating out Ted Williams by .0002. He ranked 2nd in 1950 with .340 and 3rd in '51. His .396 average at Lancaster was the best in all Organized Baseball in 1943. George came up with the A's at the end of '43 and was traded to the Tigers in 1946. He hit .322 in '46, .320 in '47 and .304 in '48. The best-fielding Third Basemen in the League, he made the Major League All-Star Team in 1946-47-49-50-51.



The outfielder hit safely in all 7 World Series games last year, compiling a .379 batting mark. Ron led the club in RBIs in 1965.



Of the four Cobb cards in the 1909 T206 Set, his green background portrait card is the most sought after.
