in '50, he tied a Major League record held by 4 other men. Joe left the University of Illinois in '45 to play games with the A's. He was with Lancaster in '46, Savannah in '47 and after hitting .352 for Memphis in '48 the A's brought him up to stay. Joe's .327 mark in '50 was the best Batting Average on the A's. The ex-Coast Guardsman was a football, baseball and basketball star in high school and college.



Bill played for Milwaukee in 1953 and also in 1952. The difference is that in 1952 it was a minor league team. As a rookie, he roamed the National League's outfields demonstrating his superior speed and skill. He batted .250 for 151 games. Had four years' experience in pro ball. Led League in stolen bases in 1953 with 26. In first year in organized ball, Eau Claire, of North- ern League, set NL record with 66 stolen bases and was voted league's "rookie of year."



Hank started in baseball in 1941 as a pitcher but soon switched to outfielding. He's been a Yank since 1948 and in 1950 belted .320. In 1953, Hank posted a .304 mark and in the 1955 World Series hit .429.
