The Yankees acquired Eddie in a big deal with the Philadelphia Athletics early in 1954. He is expected to put a lot of balls into the seats at the Stadium, and also to help out at first base. In baseball since 1939. He tied a major league record in 1948 when he was with the Indians, by participating in 6 double plays at first. In 1950, with the Washington Senators, he tied another major league record by making two unassisted double plays at first in a game.



1953 will be Howie's first in the National League, after a number of seasons as a member of the Chicago White Sox mound staff. He got into 21 games for the Sox in 1952. He began in baseball in 1946 with Waterloo of the Three-I League, appearing in 7 games, winning 2 and losing 2. Had a 16-8 record for the same team the next year, then moved to the White Sox.



Shortly after the seventh-inning stretch on July 24, 2023, Ha-Seong Kim decided to stretch his legs in an effort to get into scoring position and spark a San Diego rally. Rodriguez quickly made him regret the bold move. Stifling the threat with Juan Soto at the dish, the backstop threw out Kim as his first caught-stealing victim in the bigs.
