Entered baseball's Hall of Fame on Sept. 9, 1948 at Polo Grounds by pitching a no-hit game against slugging New York Giants. Score - 2-0. Until Rex pitched an 11-inning 4-4 tie against same Giants on July 9, 1948, he hadn't pitched a complete game in two years, However, Dodgers knew they had something in this young giant and he came through for them last season. His season total was 15 wins and 13 losses.



Capable performer in the field and at bat. Started to show his real worth in '47 despite injuries that year and the year before. Hit into upper bracket with a .296 for 126 games. Had best season with Detroit in '48. Led club in batting with .314 - and in clutch slugging with a .454.



The Brownies obtained Hank from the White Sox at the end of the '52 season. The injury jinx has plagued Hank throughout his career. He's had a broken ankle, a fractured collarbone, and a dislocated shoulder among others. Hank's been in pro ball since '39. He played for the Indians from '42 until '49 when he went to the Cubs. In '51 he went from the Dodgers to the Reds to the White Sox. In '46 he hit .301 and led the AL with 16 Triples.
