One of the most promising pitching prospects ever signed by the Baltimore Orioles, Jim joined the parent club after hurling just one season in the minors. While pitching in the Northern League in 1964, the left-hander spun a no-hitter against Duluth-Superior. The high-priced bonus player is handy with a bat, helping himself out with his hitting ability on numerous occasions. Jim attracted many big league scouts while pitching for his Arizona high school.



Blake reaped 28-of-30 first-place votes to win the 2023 NL Cy Young Award, making him just the seventh hurler to earn the honor in both circuits. The southpaw led the loop in ERA and fewest Hs/9 IP (5.8).



Started 1951 season with the Cubs, but sent to Los Angeles after 49 games for Chicago. In 70 games on the Coast. Batted .271 for the Baby Bruins and .376 for Los Angeles. Began in baseball with Santa Barbara in 1946. Acquired by Cubs from Dodgers' organization, Oct., '50.
