Patience paid off for Bagnall, who put in four years worth of ice time with the AHL Manchester Monarchs before getting an up-close-and-personal look at an NHL rink. At one point, Bagnall looked NHL-bound as a King. Instead it happened with Minnesota, the team that signed him in the summer of 2010.
A lot of rookies go unnoticed by NHL veterans when they first come into the league, but it's tough to ignore the 6-foot-7 frame and 250 pounds that Boogaard carries with him. And Boogaard isn't shy about throwing that weight around either, as 100-plus penalty minutes as a rookie will attest, but he's a lot more than a bruiser as his ice time and points have proven.
Backstrom came off the bench to collect victories in each of his first two NHL appearances. The keeper captured back-to-back Finnish Elite League titles in 2004 and 2005. His won a bronze medal with Team Finland at the 2006 World Championships.
