After spending the first three years of his NHL career with the Sabres, Boughner was one of the selections in the June '98 expansion draft and spent '98-99 as one of the original members of the Nashville squad. With his physical presence on the back line and his toughness, which resulted in his fourth straight season with at least 100 penalty minutes, he looks to be a valuable member of the team for years to come.
In the 1998-1999 season, Tom was named as the first captain in team history. The following year, Tom skated in 82 games for Nashville. Fitzgerald had a third-period game-winning goal in a 3-2 triumph over San Jose.
Andy led all NHL defensemen in game winners (6) and power-play goals (14) in 2002-03. He was tied for first in goals, with Sergei Gonchar and Nicklas Lidstrom.
