Name that player!

Jim is known as the "scoreless wonder" among his mates, but nevertheless has been one of the NHL's top defensemen for nine straight seasons. Is generally among those mentioned when the "dream team" i. being discussed. Has scored but 15 goals in his NHL career, but some of these have been very important, pay-off markers. Last season was one of Jim's best in a point way.

One of the outstanding juniors produced by the OHA, "Big Chief" Armstrong sparkled in AHL competition with Pittsburgh before coming to Maple Leafs. So far, however, Army hasn't reached his peak, with the Leafs, especially when he was playing right wing. Last year, Coach King Clancy moved him back to the pivot slot and George seemed to feel more at home.

Came to the Toronto club a year ago from Pittsburgh where he was a leading scorer. Gave a tremendous account of himself as a newcomer with only 4 of his team-mates ahead of him on total points and tied Leaf captain Kennedy for leading in assists with 23 to his credit.

Back to the Front! Maple Leafs card back du jour...

Jimmy Thomson
Jim makes up in ability what he lacks in colour. He goes about his work without fuss or fanfare. Rival forwards rate him as one of the toughest defensemen to deke out of position. He gives them a rough ride any time they try to dipsy doodle through.
